Our Edmonton Photography Bucket List: 5 Spots We Can’t Wait to Shoot
Introduction
As a photographer new to Edmonton, we’ve been spending our weekends scouting locations. We are falling in love with the diversity of this city from the modern architecture to the wild river valley.
While we have already had the joy of capturing beautiful moments at Mill Creek Ravine (which is quickly becoming a favorite), there are a few iconic spots still on our "must-shoot" list.
We are looking for adventurous couples and families who want to help us tick these locations off our list!
1. The Alberta Legislature Grounds ("The Ledge")
• Why It’s On Our List: The architecture here looks stunning. We are envisioning a session using the fountains and gardens for a soft, romantic look, or the massive stone pillars for something dramatic.
• Who This Is Perfect For: A family or couple wanting a classic, timeless, and elegant vibe.
2. Mill Creek Ravine (“Establish Favorite")
• Why We Love It: We have already had the chance to shoot here, and it did not disappoint. The wooden trestle bridges add such great leading lines to photos, and the creek offers a perfect spot for kids to explore while wecapture candid moments.
• The Vibe: Rustic, cozy, and adventurous.
3. Manchester Square
• Why It’s On Our List: Sometimes you don’t want trees, you want style. We are dying to do a session here to play with the fun architectural lines and European aesthetic.
• Who This Is Perfect For: This would be amazing for a branding session or a stylish maternity shoot.
4. The Muttart Conservatory
• Why It’s On Our List: Those glass pyramids are unmistakable. We would love to shoot outside for a modern geometric background, or (if we get a permit) head inside for lush greenery.
• Who This Is Perfect For: Anyone who wants that "tropical in winter" feel!
5. Elk Island National Park
• Why It’s On Our List: I have heard the sunsets over Astotin Lake are unmatched. I want to create something "cinematic" here, where the landscape is just as important as you are.
• Who This Is Perfect For: A family willing to drive a bit for an epic, breathtaking backdrop.
